When you light your candle for the first time it is important to keep it lit for 3-4 hours or until the wax gets close to edges of the vessel. This creates a memory for future burns and avoids what we call “tunneling” leaving mounds of wax around the edges of your candles. *Try not to exceed 4 hours of burn time without a wick trim!
It is important to trim your wicks between each light! When a wick gets too long it cannot draw wax all the way up to the top so the wick itself will start to burn. By trimming your wicks before each use, you will get a longer and cleaner burn.
Keep in mind when you light your candles that it’s best to stay away from any direct air flow (fans, windows, drafts) If the flame has too much movement, there will not be enough heat for an even burn.
Never leave a candle unattended or in reach of children, pets, or anything that could easily catch fire (duh).
Do not burn your candles all the way down to the very last drop of wax. When your candle has about a 1/4 inch of wax left, it is time to call it quits! If there is not enough wax left to absorb the heat, your jar could overheat and potentially crack. Know when to scoop out the remaining wax and prepare to repurpose!
Always light your candle on a steady, stable surface.
